Books news! Including new covers and the first details of fiftieth anniversary novels!

In a recent interview with Visionary Treks' The Captain's Table podcast, David Mack revealed his next Star Trek novel, following Seekers 3: Long Shot in August, will be one book in a TOS trilogy, to mark the fiftieth anniversary of Star Trek next year:
I do have one more, that I'm going to be writing this fall, which will be out in the fall of 2016. The story line hasn't been approved yet, so I don't know for sure that it's a go. But what we're working on is a special set of stories to commemorate the fiftieth anniversary of Star Trek. And I'm working on one volume of what is hoped to be a trilogy, which will play homage to classic Star Trek, in fine Original Series style.
I wonder who else will be filling out the trilogy? Following this, David Mack will be missing in action from the Star Trek universe, while he is busy working onhis original trilogy of World War II era fantasy novels. He doesn't expect to be returning to Star Trek until at least 2017, and doesn't seem entirely sure about that, not be able to foresee his own, or the Star Trek books, schedule. What has become of Section 31: Control? Well, the fiftieth anniversary book has displaced his writing of that until a later date. Mack being busy could also effect the ongoing nature of the Seekers series, and one of the points discussed in the interview was who Mack might favour to fill in for him if he is otherwise occupied when the next books come along. Check out the full interview, with discussion of this and much more, on Visionary Treks: Part one and part two.

Also, do you notice the fiftieth anniversary logo at the top? That was recently discovered by TrekCore, and I'm sure will be appearing all over Star Trek products in the not-to-distant-future. Check out TrekCore's report for more on that.

Meanwhile, new cover time! The last two covers for Peter David's New Frontier ebook trilogy The Returned have now been revealed. The first was released a couple of weeks ago. Continue below to check them both out:

At the moment the same blurb is being used for all three books, the same one that was released with the first cover from the trilogy:
Captain Mackenzie Calhoun and the crew of the U.S.S. Excalibur are back, picking up three months after the stunning events depicted in New Frontier: Blind Man’s Bluff. Calhoun's search of Xenex has failed to find any survivors, and now he is bound and determined to track down the race that killed them—the D'myurj and their associates, the Brethren—and exact vengeance upon them. His search will take the Excalibur crew into a pocket universe, where he discovers not only the homeworld of the D’myurj, but another race that shares Calhoun's determination to obliterate his opponents. But is this new race truly an ally…or an even greater threat?
The Returned will be released from July to September this year.

Finally, another podcast to open your ears to: John Jackson Miller recently appeared on the G and T Show, to talk about his recent novel Takedown, and all manner of other things! Including a few hints at Star Trek stories he didn't get a chance to write.

Continue after the jump for more pictures:

Ben also posted a new group shot of many of the already released Federation ships:

And it's not just Star Trek Ben has been posting about, he's also been teasing other Eaglemoss products, including an incredible shot from a Dalek factory, check that out on Twitter!

IDW June titles, and other comics news

A few updates from IDW's Star Trek line today, starting with their June solicitations, which includes the start of a new story in the nuTrek ongoing series, and an omnibus. Continue below for full details of those, and more, including news of a new Gold Key story!

Star Trek (nuTrek ongoing) #46: 5 Year Mission- The Tholian Webs, Part 1
Written by Mike Johnson, with art by Rachel Stott (returning to Trek shortly after finishing up on the Planet of the Apes crossover series).
In “The Tholian Webs,” Part 1 of 2, The FIVE-YEAR MISSION of the Starship Enterprise continues! In this epic re-imagining of a classic Star Trek episode, the crew of the new movie timeline encounters a mysterious and deadly alien force... and not all of the crew will make it out alive!
There are two covers for this one, the regular by Joe Corroney, and a subscription variant photo-cover:

New Visions, Volume 2
By John Byrne.
John Byrne presents all-new, feature length tales set in the Star Trek: The Original Series universe, done in a unique, photomontage style. Collects the stories “Cry Vengeance,” “Made Out of Mudd,” “A Scent of Ghosts,” and “Memorium,” plus a special bonus: an all-new “Gold Key” crossover story you never expected with an ending you won’t believe!

John Byrne just recently posted a preview of that Gold Key bonus story, on his forums, which looks like it's going to be an absolute delight:

And finally, there's news of another omnibus, the tenth book in the nuTrek ongoing series, which Amazon now list for August release. They also have this blurb:
The lead up to the next movie begins here! Following their encounter with the extradimensional entity known as "Q", Captain Kirk and the crew of the Enterprise continue their five-year mission into unexplored space. Contains the stories "Behemoth,""Eurydice," and "The Tholian Webs" from issues #41-46.

...which surely has to be wrong: Unless they plan to split The Tholian Webs between two omnibuses, the issue count here is off, as the six issues would include the two-parter Behemoth, the three-part Eurydice, but just the first half of the two-part The Tholian Webs. The last two omnibuses in the series have been six-issue books, but before that all the rest contained four issues, so it would seem an odd decision to split a story when they could just release a five-issue omnibus and bump The Tholian Webs into the eleventh omnibus in the series. Hopefully by the time we get the August solicitations this will be have been altered!

Following David Mack's recent reveal that he will be working on one book in a TOS trilogy for the 50th anniversary next year, further details have been quick to surface. Mack will be writing the second book in the trilogy, which is now listed on his website as Star Trek Legacies, Book II: Best Defense, with a September release date.

Dayton Ward has posted on his blog with more information, he and Kevin Dilmore will be writing the final book in the trilogy, with Greg Cox set to kick it off. Ward also suggested the trilogy would include a September release, with the trilogy hoping to span the summer. He gave this summary:
As story outlines have not yet been finalized and approved, there’s really not much we can offer just yet, except to say that all three books will “star” Kirk and the Enterprise crew in their prime, and each book ties into a larger storyline that we hope pays proper tribute to the legacy of the original series, which all of us love rather more than most normal people would consider healthy.
In other books news, Cross Cult have revealed a new New Frontier cover, for the short story anthology New Limits, which will be known as Grenzenlos, in this German language edition, due out next March. This one is packed full of characters, which makes it look like a New Frontier move poster to me:

Finally, another author podcast to listen to, for your Star Trek books DVD commentary! The latest is Tony Daniel, who talked to TrekFM's Literary Treks about his new TOS book, Savage Trade.

Star Trek ReAction figures wave 2

Official images of the second wave in Funko's Star Trek ReAction figure range have been released. This second set of four retro Kenner-style three-and-three-quarter inch figures is due out in July, according to Entertainment Earth. We get a diverse mix of characters this time: Captain Kirk and Scotty of the Enterprise, joined by Vina in her Orion slave girl guise, and the Gorn. Check them all out below:

The first wave has only just been released, and fills outs most of the main TOS characters; Spock, Uhura, McCoy, and Sulu. So far only these two waves have been announced, and of course with most of the main characters now accounted for there's not much left for a third TOS wave, just Chekov, and maybe more aliens or minor Enterprise crew. Personally I wouldn't be too surprised if Funko switched to TNG, if they decide to do more Star Trek ReAction figures.

Family Guy quests for stuff on the Enterprise-D

The USS Enterprise-D is visiting Quahog in a special Star Trek event in the Family Guy mobile game, The Quest For Stuff. The Star Trek event, which continues until the end of April, sees players exploring the Enterprise, and meeting members of the crew. Here's the blurb from the developer, Tinyco:
Join the denizens of Quahog as they collide with the cast of Star Trek for a raucous race to save humanity! After sustaining heavy damage from the Borg, the USS Enterprise and its crew set an emergency course back in time for Earth, year 2015. The Enterprise’s Commander William Riker infiltrates Quahog on a mission to protect baby Stewie – whose future self creates technology which threatens the Borg’s very existence. With baby Borg Bertram in hot pursuit, Riker enlists Family Guy, Peter Griffin, to repair the Enterprise, save the crew, and protect the future of Mankind… oh, and Stewie too.

Players will explore the USS Enterprise, visiting reimagined versions of iconic locations like The Bridge, Holodeck, Sickbay, Engineering and more. Throughout their exploration, players will meet and unlock The Next Generation crew including Captain Jean-Luc Picard, Lt. Commander Data, Lieutenant Worf, Chief Engineer Geordi La Forge, and more – with voices from the actors of the television series.

Extending the adventures to the edges of known space, players can send away teams on exploratory missions to other planets, collecting resources and rewards. Back on the Bridge, give enemies “all she’s got!” using photon torpedoes to blast enemies and debris into deep space. Other epic fights pit players against the warp speed-reproducing Tribbles, who are choking Quahog’s communities. Take a turn in the Captain’s chair and equip the deck for the final face-off with the Borg and prepare to rendezvous with the biggest names in Starfleet, including the one and only Captain James T. Kirk!
And here's the Enterprise as she appears in the game:

Continue below for a trailer, and more images and information from the game:

TinyCo have released lots of cool Family Guy styled Star Trek images to promote the game:

And of course some shots from the actual game. It starts with helping Riker in Quahog, before moving to the Enterprise, where you can visit many familiar locations, and eventually build more rooms as you unlock more features.

The Star Trek event has more content added each week, and lots of challenges to keep you occupied between updates, as you work to unlock features and characters. Family Guy: The Quest For Stuff is available to download via Apples' App Store, Google Play and Amazon's Appstore. If you're new to the game, Heavy has a tips guide to help you play through, including what you need to get set up to unlock the starting point of the Star Trek event. You can also find a tour of the Enterprise on Family Guy Tips.

New Trexels drinking vessels

Icup, makers of novelty kitchenalia, including a number of previous TOS themed releases, have expanded their Star Trek range with some new Trexels releases. The pixelated forms of Kirk and company can now be found on the side of a set of four twelve-ounce glasses:

And a landing party about to meet the Gorn also features on a plastic cup, which has a screw on top and reusable straw!

That's all for now, but I'm sure this isn't the last we've seen of the pixelated crew: The Trexels designs originated as a fan art project in 2010, before be picked up by CBS who have since applied it to more posters, lots of T-shirts, and various other products which have been coming out pretty regularly ever since (check out my first report on Trexels for a look at some of the other stuff). Rather pleasingly the concept came full circle a couple of years ago, and is now also a real video game, released as a mobile app.

Star Trek/Green Lantern crossover comic

$

IDW have announced their latest Star Trek crossover comic series, The Spectrum War, a six-part Green Lantern crossover, which for the first time ever will see the nuTrek crew encountering beings from another universe. Starting in July, the series will be written by Mike Johnson, who has penned all IDW's nuTrek comics to date, and will feature art from Angel Hernández, who recently illustrated several issues of DC Comics'Infinite Crisis: Fight for the Multiverse. Here's the blurb for the series:
Now all Star Trek fans can watch their favorite U.S.S. Enterprise crew members meet Hal Jordan and the entire Green Lantern Corps in an adventure that spans space, time and all the colors of the spectrum. Set in Star Trek’s 23rd Century, the balance of the universe will be tested when the Green Lantern Corps’ Power Rings come into the possession of certain Star Trek characters while a dark and powerful evil looms around every corner. Only the combined power of the Green Lantern Corp and the Federation stand any chance of stopping those who worship evil’s might.

I'm sure we can expect lots of different covers in this series, and the first issue is already down for at least four, from Gabriel Rodriguez (above), Francesco Francavilla (below, after the jump), Garry Brown. and Elsa Charretier. Other issues in the series will see cover art by  Declan Shalvey and Marc Laming.

This will be the second time Star Trek has run into characters from DC Comics, following IDW's 2011 TOS/Legion of Super-Heroes crossover series. And of course Star Trek crossovers are becoming a bit of a regular feature in IDW's offering, who have also delivered the multi-franchise Infestation zombie crossover event, Doctor Who, and most recently, Planet of the Apes crossover series. All of those bar Doctor Who were TOS stories; Kirk and co only made a small cameo in an otherwise TNGDoctor Who encounter. This Green Lantern series will be the first time the nuTrek crew have featured in a crossover story.

Starships Collection issues 61-65 revealed, and more

$

Eaglemoss'Hero Collector website has a new post revealing five more ships in the line-up for the magazine and model series, The Official Starships Collection. Continue below for the details of those issues, and more news from The Collection.

The newly confirmed issues start with the Norway class, the last of Alex Jaeger's First Contact fleet in the series, which will be issue sixty-one. This will be out in early December in the UK, with the US following in January, and other region getting it as the series catches up.

Sixty-two will be the smaller of the two Voth ships from Voyager's Distant Origin, Professor Gegen’s research vessel. Hopefully we can still look forward to the huge city ship later in the series.
Sixty-three is a design which originated from The Animated Series, and then with the addition of a crew compartment became the Antares in the remastered version of Charlie X. This will be the first 2016 issue of the series, due out in the UK early in January next year.
Issue sixty-four is Zefram Cochrane's warp ship, the Phoenix. The rendering here doesn't have the final textures or lighting yet.
And issue sixty-five is the second Xindi starship in the collection, the massive Xindi Aquatic ship.
Not content to give us only five ships to look forward to, the series manager, Ben Robinson also revealed, on his Twitter, that issue seventy-three will be the renegade Borg ship from Descent. The Collection will use this new CGI model by Fabio Passaro, and being several issues ahead of the other announcements this one is a long way from release, not due in the UK until May next year!

And that's not all Ben has let on in his recent tweets. When asked about the possibility of The Collection featuring the Peregrine class fighter he replied:
I don't think you'll be disappointed. There's the little fighters from First Duty too…
He also gave a positive response to requests for Kazon and Vidiian ships, and offered some speculation on which nuTrek ships we might see after the USS Kelvin and NX-refit specials:
I figure the Jellyfish would be the next JJ ship. Or maybe the Klingon battlecruiser from the Kobayashi Maru
Speaking of nuTrek Klingons, the D4 class has just recently arrived in the UK (a great model and very interesting magazine), and Ben posted this new photo of the model to mark the release:

And finally a new rendering of the Enterprise-C; there wasn't room for this particular image in the magazine, which is due out in the UK in about a month, as issue forty-six.

In other news, the USS Titan petition has passed another milestone, with over three-and-a-half-thousand names now requesting it be included in The Collection. That means we only need one-and-half-thousand more Titan fans to reach the five-thousand target which should allow an extra issue to be commissioned.

The more recently launched USS Aventine petition has also clocked up several hundred supporters already.

Ships of the Line and other 2016 calendar updates

Universe Publishing have released updated covered and new preview images for some of their 2016 Star Trek calendars. The biggest reveals come from Ships of the Line, with new front and back covers revealing some (but not all) of the competition winning designs that will feature in next year's calendar:

If you can't quite make out what you're seeing on the back there, I believe we have:
  • The Insignia class, one of my favourite fan designs (inspired, I believe, by one of the proposals for a next generation starship in the TNG Technical Manual), which I'm delighted to see in an official publication.
  • What appears to be a meeting of the TV era TOS Enterprise and the Enterprise-C.
  • An Argo-type shuttle on the way to the Enterprise-E.
  • The Enterprise-D, with the big shuttlebay open (same image as the cover).
  • A refit Constitution class ship next to a spacedock, possibly with a pre-refit inside said dock (I can't quite make it out).
  • Another pre-refit Enterprise in spacedock, this time seen from within the dock, and with a classic shuttle flying by.
  • A new TOS-era ship, with a similar configuration to the USS Kelvin.
A preview image form inside the calendar has also been released, which means there are four (maybe five if there's a centerfold) images yet to be revealed! Continue after the jump to check out a USS Defiant picture from the calendar, and updates from other 2016 Star Trek calendars:

The Original Series calendar also has a completely updated back cover, with a new image selection, and a couple of preview pages showing those pictures too. The back cover now also sports the fiftieth anniversary logo.

The anniversary logo also appears on the back of the Daily Calendar, and there are some new preview pages from that too:

The three calendars above are all due for publication in August. For 2016 there are two more calendars though, the engagement calendar due out in July, and the Ships of the Line poster calendar which comes in June - The latter is new to the range for 2016, and both cover a sixteen month range. There are no changes to these designs since their initial previews:

If you like your ships it's a really good year, as on top of the regular Ships of the Line and the new poster format, there's also a collection of Ships of the Line posters due out in a few months too!

Sacraments of Fire cover

Simon and Schuster have released the cover for David R. George III's next DS9 novel, Sacraments of Fire. The story is set to pick up some of the dangling threads from The Fall, and along with the follow-up, Ascendance, it appears will also be filling in some of the missing period  from the DS9 relaunch when the series jumped forward to align with the post-Destiny timeframe - While the blurbs don't hint at filling in that missing time in this first book, the cover certainly does, with Iliana Ghemor (last seen at the end of The Soul Key when she became the Ascendants' messiah) looming over the new Deep Space 9:

Sacraments of Fire is due out in August, and Ascendance is coming in January. Continue after the jump for a reminder of the blurbs:

Here's Sacraments of Fire's blurb, as presented on the wormhole back-cover of the book:

And the text for Ascendance:
On the original Deep Space Nine, Captain Kira Nerys watches as the nearby wormhole opens and discharges a single, bladelike vessel. Attempts to contact its crew fail, and the ship is soon followed by another vessel of similar design. When an armada subsequently begins to emerge from the wormhole, it seems clear that DS9 is under attack. Kira orders her first officer, Commander Elias Vaughn, to board the U.S.S. Defiant and defend the station, and alerts Starfleet to send additional forces as her crew prepares DS9’s shields and weaponry for the onslaught to come.

Meanwhile, on the lead ship, Iliana Ghemor considers launching an attack on DS9 and finally ending the life of Kira, the fountainhead of all the ills in her miserable life. Her vengeance demands more than mere death, though—it requires pain. Ghemor refocuses, choosing to follow her plan to mete out her revenge on the captain by first decimating the population of Bajor…

In other books news, Cross Cult have announced they will be continuing to produce German translations of the Enterprise novels, as they have now secured the rights to do Christopher L. Bennett's Rise of the Federation books. No scheduling for these yet.

Starships Collections' USS Enterprise, Hirogen, D'kyr, and more!

The next two issues of Eaglemoss'Official Starships Collection have now been solicited, and come July, when the series gets to issue fifty, we have a ship I'm sure will get more adoration than most, the one that started this whole Star Trek thing going, the original USS Enterprise. This is followed by the Hirogen Hunter from Voyager, which looks like it's going to be one of the more impressive models in the series to me!

Preliminary covers have also been released. Both of these issues will be arriving in July in the UK, and will arrive in the US come August/September, with the rest of the world to follow as the series progresses in other markets.

Continue below for more previews from the series!

The Collection's manager, Ben Robinson, has continued to be active on his Twitter account, including some pleasing new previews, such as this first look at the Vulcan D'kyr class, coming as issue fifty-five, in September:

Already out in the UK is the Intrepid, issue forty-four, which Ben also posted a couple of pictures of:

As ever Ben has also been discussing possible ships that might come later in the series. When asked about the Intrepid delta-shaped sister ship he replied "It's definitely more likely than not". Similarly he confirmed the Tellarite ship from Enterprise is on the consideration list, but not yet confirmed.

He's also been fielding interest in some of the more obscure ships, such as the kitbashes and prototype models seen fleetingly at Wolf 359 and the Qualor II Surplus Depot, which might mean we get ships like the New Orleans class and the Ralph McQuarrie concept starship design. If you'd like such things give Ben a shout on Twitter!

Finally Ben also posted some nice promo images, such as this Federation fleet grouping:

And this DS9 focused advert, being prepped to promote the series in France and the Netherlands:

PS, don't forget, if you'd like to see some of the best non-canon ships in The Collection, make sure to sign the petitions for the USS Titan and USS Aventine. We are inching ever closer to the magic five-thousand names for the Titan!

At the Chicago Comic and Entertainment Expo (C2E2), Diamond Select Toys have revealed their next all new electronic starship toy, the Romulan Bird of Prey - This was first displayed at the Toy Fair earlier in the year, but photography wasn't allowed, so now the rest of the world can see it in all its glory. Images via Tomopop and DST' Facebook page.

Also coming soon is a reissue of the Enterprie NX-01 model, with a new and much improved paint job. Continue after the jump to check out that, and other new stuff from DST:

The image above again via Tomopop. In a recent Q and A article DST mentioned the re-issue will include a new sound chip with both sound effects and phrases. While in the Q and A released before that they also suggested it it likely they will also do a re-issue of the mirror universe version of the NX-01.

In those Q and A's they also mentioned they are currently working on sculpts for two new Star Trek Select action figures, as well as 2D design work for a third. Mentioning on of those is a TOS movie era character (I would speculate Khan, he's the go-to movie era character to make in any form!). They also suggested 7 of 9 as a possible Star Trek Select candidate, and a desire to do something with a Borg character.

Elsewhere DST also announced recently they will be making a third Star Trek bust bank, Worf, who will be the first TNG design in the series, following previous Kirk and Spock releases. Entertainment Earth already have this up for pre-order, anticipating a November release.

Finally. already out is the Borg Cube silicone mold, here's how it's packaged:

I've cut this so fine this month that imagine most of you will in fact be reading in May! But none the less, continue below for a round-up of all the Star Trek stuff that made its way into the world in April 2015.

Books

It's a busy month for comic books, plus the latest novel, and an issue of the Star Trek Magazine. This month's prose adventure was Uncertain Logic, the third in Christopher L. Bennett's Rise of the Federation series.
Years ago, Jonathan Archer and T’Pol helped unearth the true writings of Vulcan’s great philosopher Surak, bringing forth a new era of peaceful reform on Vulcan. But when their discovery is seemingly proven to be a fraud, the scandal threatens to undo a decade of progress and return power to the old, warlike regime. Admiral Archer, Captain T’Pol, and the crew of the U.S.S. Endeavour investigate with help from their Vulcan allies, but none of them suspect the identity of the real mastermind behind the conspiracy to reconquer Vulcan—or the price they will have to pay to discover the truth.

Meanwhile, when a long-forgotten technological threat re-emerges beyond the Federation’s borders, Captain Malcolm Reed of the U.S.S. Pioneer attempts to track down its origins with help from his old friend “Trip” Tucker. But they discover that other civilizations are eager to exploit this dangerous power for their own benefit, even if the Federation must pay the price!

There are two new comic books out from IDW this month. The Primate Directive, the TOS/Planet of the Apes crossover series reached it's conclusion in the fifth issue. The omnibus of the series, written by Scott and David Tipton, with art by Rachael Stott, is due out in July. Meanwhile you can find preview pages from this final issue, in my previous report.
The battle for conquest of the Planet of the Apes comes to a climax! Can Captain Kirk wrest control of the Gorilla army from the Klingons?

Meanwhile the nuTrek ongoing series reached the middle issue of the current three-part story Eurydice. The forty-fourth issue of the series sees the Enterprise stranded far from home. You can see preview pages from that too, in another earlier report.
The Five Year Mission leading up to 2016's blockbuster STAR TREK movie continues here, as Captain Kirk and the crew of the Enterprise find themselves in the clutches of the Dark Market Syndicate deep in the Delta Quadrant. Don’t miss this all-new story produced in the association with STAR TREK writer/producer Roberto Orci!

That issue was written, as always, by Mike Johnson, with art by Tony Shasteen. The same creative team feature in the nuTrek omnibus newly released this month too, the six-part DS9 crossover The Q Gambit, which comprised issues thirty-five to forty, is the ninth omnibus book in the series.
The crew of the new Star Trek film franchise encounters the classic Trek villain Q for the first time in this galaxy-spanning adventure developed in association with screenwriter/producer Roberto Orci! The mischievous Q sends James T. Kirk on a quest that will see the Enterprise joining forces with familiar faces from Star Trek lore, in "The Q Gambit!"

Another comic omnibus out this month gives us some very different adventures for the Enterprise crew, in Volume 3 of IDW's Gold Key Archives series; bringing the first ever Star Trek comics back to life with vibrant new colouring and a snazzy hardcover book presentation. You can see some of those revitalized pages in another preview article.
Boldly going... where it all started! Presenting the first comic book adventures of the U.S.S. Enterprise and her crew! Fully remastered with new colors, Volume 3 collects issues #13-18, including stories such as "Dark Traveler,""The Enterprise Mutiny,""The Hijacked Planet," and more.

Finally from the publishing section we have Titan Magazine's latest issue of the Star Trek Magazine. Issue one-hundred-and-eighty (or fifty-three in the US) focuses on mythology in the Star Trek universe.
Monsters and mayhem take over in The Official Star Trek Magazine! It's time to strip off our Starfleet uniforms, don skimpy leather armor, and swap our phasers for flaming swords, as we delve into the classical themes, myths, and legends that have influenced Star Trek over the decades. We'll also find out how Trek couture is becoming high fashion; meet the galaxy's most notorious rogues and reprobates; and discover how Gary Seven faced off against Khan during the Eugenics Wars! Plus all of your favorite regular features, merchandise reviews, and the latest Star Trek news.

Model ships

It's been a very busy month for Eaglemoss, with the biweekly releases happening to deliver three ships in a single month, as well as the latest over-sized special issue! Issues forty-three to forty-five are the Species 8472 bioship, the Enterprise-era Intrepid, and the Malon Export Vessel. I believe these are the first ever models of the latter two ships.

The fourth special issue in the series is also newly out, the Klingon D4 class. This is only the second ever model of this ship, and comes with one of the best magazines of the series to date, giving an in-depth look at the designing of the ship.

As ever, the UK sees the first release of all these ships, with the US following a couple of months behind, and other markets catching up as the series progresses locally. For full coverage of all the ships in the series check my index page.

Also out this month is wave fourteen of Wizkid's Attack Wing miniatures game, which gives us three smaller scale model ships: The Krenim Temporal Weapon, the mirror universe NX class ISS Avenger, and the Oberth class USS Pegasus.

German language

Finally, for German readers, Cross Cult never disappoint, with two new translation out this month. Peter David's 2003 New Frontier novel Gods Above gains the German title Mehr als Götter. And possibly one of the greatest new titles Cross Cult have ever come up, Achtung, Monster!, Keith R.A. DeCandido's 2001 COE ebook novella, originally known as Here There Be Monsters. Both books get new covers for their German release:

Germany also saw the release of Star Trek: The Next Generation - The Full Journey, the complete series bluray box set, which was released in the UK and Spain last year.

You can find out more about all these items, and everything else out this year, with links to all my previous coverage on my schedule page.
